Local Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they reported in a official communication.
Officers report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored substance.
The fluid had been drawn in the pattern of a swastika, they reported.
Police then located numerous other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement report initial examinations indicate the fluid was likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; officials are currently not aware of any physical harm in relation with the incident," they commented.
City officials said they were working "to resolve the mystery" and have asked to the public for details.
An important representative commented the vandalism left him speechless and had to be solved rapidly.
"This incident hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he posted on online, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a gunman targeting people of immigrant origin in five years prior.
